Midsummer Night’s Gleam

by Lisa on July 13, 2012

Foster Botanical Gardens hosts an event called A Midsummer Night’s Gleam every summer and it’s happening again this weekend.  We went last year and had a great time!

The activities start in the late afternoon with activities and entertainment located throughout the grounds.  I’m sure the crafts vary a bit year to year but last year they had balloon animals, headbands and lauhala bookmarks for kids to make.

Two stages had live music and entertainment going on throughout the evening and we enjoyed watching the Chinese dance troupe with their lions while we ate the picnic supper we had taken with us.  Fighting the Mongolian knights was also a big hit with both kids.

As it gets dark, volunteers light the 2500 luminaries that line all the paths giving the garden a magical feel.
